Around 6:30 pm on Monday, a Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle near Interstate 5 and Russell Ave. in Firebaugh for a traffic violation.

Inside the car were two previously convicted felons from Washington state, Brian Rangel and Martin Velazquez.
The deputy discovered they were in possession of two guns, one of which was reported stolen. In the car were three fire extinguishers that looked suspicious.
The extinguishers did not function and items could be heard rattling inside of them. The extinguishers were examined by a narcotics dog and a member of our Explosive Ordnance Device (EOD) team.
Deputies opened the extinguishers and each contained Fentanyl pills, which totaled 15 pounds.
