69-year-old Deborah Weiss has been charged with two counts of murder in Lexington after the bodies of two men were found near the library on Russell Cave Road Sunday morning.

Just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday, officers were called to the 1700 block of Russell Cave Road for someone who had been shot.

When they arrived, police found two men who had been shot. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The Fayette County Coroner has identified them as 52-year-old Edward Parker and 71-year-old Ashim Heanacho.

At 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Lexington Police shared that 69-year-old Deborah Weiss had been arrested in connection with the shooting.

She’s charged with two counts of murder. Weiss is being held in the Fayette County Detention Center.

Lexington Police told WKYT the shooting happened outside of the Lexington Public Library’s Northside Branch.

Iam heartbroken to learn of the senseless violence that claimed the lives of two individuals in our community.

My thoughts are with the loved ones who are now left to carry an unimaginable grief. Every life lost to gun violence is a tragedy that ripples through families, neighborhoods, and our city.

The shooting is being investigated as a double homicide.
