DEADLY DOWNTOWN JACKAON SHOOTING
Investigators say the incident is allegedly connected to drugs.
53-year-old Clinton Newsome was shot twice and found dead lying in the street.
Detectives say Newsome and the suspected shooter had an physical altercation earlier at Farish Street park which is nearby.
Newsome took crystal meth from the gunman, according to a police news release.
He quickly caught up with the victims at the intersection of Amite and Mill streets.
That’s when police say he fired multiple rounds with a shotgun.
A second victim was hit in the abdomen at the intersection.
Officers say a third man was shot in the right arm at Mill and Capitol.
Staff at nearby King Edward Hotel rushed guests and people outside on the street inside the building when the shots rang out.
