RawNews1st – David A. Arnold, a comedian who was a producer of the Fuller House reboot and the creator and showrunner of Nickelodeon’s “That Girl Lay Lay,” has died.
The veteran stand-up comedian was the showrunner of Nickelodeon’s “That Girl Lay Lay” and served as a producer on Netflix sitcom “Fuller House,” the “Full House” reboot.
Arnold died “from natural causes” at his home, his family announced in a statement shared with USA TODAY by Arnold’s representative Rob Greenwald.
Arnold, who made his living performing, acting, producing and writing for TV and film, was just three shows into his four-month Pace Ya Self national comedy tour.
He performed stand up on platforms including Netflix, HBO, and BET and was one of the few Black showrunners in Hollywood having written and produced several TV shows, including 2020 comedy series “Bigger” on BET+.
Arnold created with executive producer Will Packer “That Girl Lay Lay,” which was a top 10 most-streamed show when it premiered on Netflix.
“It is with great sadness that we confirm the untimely passing of our husband, father, brother and friend,” his family said in the statement. “David passed away peacefully today in his home and doctors have ruled the cause of death due to natural causes.
Kevin Hart, who produced one of Arnold’s stand-up specials, wrote: “You made it out of the mud man…you took life’s biggest punches and got back up from them. I lost a real friend…I lost a brother.”
Arnold was three shows into his four-month comedy tour called “Pace Ya Self.”
He also wrote episodes for “Meet the Browns,” “The Ricky Smiley Show” and “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne.”
