RawNews1st – Chicago Police responded to calls of shots fired and a male shot on 79th & Jeffrey (South Shore).
When they arrived, they found a teen boy laying on the ground in a store lot, later identified as 17-yr-old Curtis Gatewood, with multiple Gsws to the head and body. He was rushed to UofC where he was pronounced 0-1-1-0 (Deceased)
CPD believes Curtis was being followed while on his way to school. Witnesses says they heard at least 10 gunshots then saw 2 young males with book bags wearing white and black running towards 80th & Clyde after the shots.
Curtis graduated at Gary Comer Elementary, then went to Gary Comer High School, and was Just recently transferred to a private school.
The family describes Curtis a.k.a “Binky” as a loving and protective boy to them. With the loss of his mother last year due a car accident, it really took a toll on him.
He proctected his family by any means. Curtis was also on the South Shore Drill Team for a few years and he loved to dance. The family says “his smile was just everything man, he was good to us”
CPD has no suspect in custody as area homicide detectives are investigating!
