A rollover crash in Kane County on Sunday evening killed one person and critically injured another.

Kane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Walker Road and IL Route 72 in Hampshire Township at about 5:36 p.m.

According to preliminary information, a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder was traveling north on Walker Road when it came to a stop at the intersection with IL Route 72.

The driver then proceeded into the intersection, where they collided with a 2008 Chevrolet sedan traveling east on IL Route 72. The sedan rolled several times before coming to a stop on a property on the intersection’s northeast side.

The passenger in the sedan, 50-year-old Wilbert Parker of Elgin, was discovered dead inside.

After nearly an hour, the driver of the sedan was extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The Pathfinder’s driver was unharmed but was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

At this time, it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol are involved.

The crash is still being investigated.
