Couple’s abuse included sexually assaulting her, starving her, forcing her to take drugs, and physically harming her
Arkansas – It’s alleged that the couple’s abuse included sexually assaulting her, starving her, forcing her to take drugs, and physically harming her.
34-year-old Daniel Caler and 28-year-old Annie Caler were arrested on May 9. The arrest came after the teenage girl reported being abused at home to her school’s counselor.
According to KNWA, the girl told police that she had been repeatedly raped by Daniel Caler for years until Annie Caler stopped him.
Despite this, the teen girl claimed that she suffered more abuse from Annie Caler than from Daniel Caler.
Court documents showed that the girl told police that Annie Caler stabbed her in the neck with a fork when the girl “failed to clean the dishes to her liking.” As she was stabbing the girl, Annie Caler allegedly said, “I hope you die.”
The girl said that at one point she had a broken leg, but the couple allegedly refused to take her to the hospital for treatment.
Additionally, the girl told police that she was forced to sleep in a bathtub and was fed just once a week, which was reported as being given a glass of water and a Pop-Tart, and was punched and kicked regularly.
Annie Caler also allegedly forced the girl to take multiple illegal drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine, methadone, and methamphetamine. The girl said she was “forced to snort drugs” at least four times, according to KSFM.
The relationship between the couple and the girl is not clear, but in April, the girl told police that she finally felt safe enough to report the abuse.
She said she could no longer “live with the guilt of thinking it was her fault.”
In total, Daniel Caler was charged with rape, terroristic threatening, endangering the welfare of a minor, sexual assault, and permitting abuse of a minor.
Annie Caler was charged with introduction of a controlled substance into the body of another person, permitting the abuse of a minor, terroristic threatening, battery, and endangering the welfare of a minor.
