Couple of missing infant Emmanuel Haro were arrested Friday for murder around a week after their 7-month-old
This morning, detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail and Specialized Enforcement Division arrested Jake and Rebecca Haro at their residence in Cabazon for PC 187 – Murder.
Jake and Rebecca Haro were taken into custody by San Bernardino County sheriff’s homicide detectives at their Cabazon home after the baby’s mother initially insisted her son was kidnapped outside a sporting goods store on Aug. 14.
Emmanuel Haro was reported missing on Thursday, August 14, when his mother, Rebecca Haro, claimed she was attacked and knocked unconscious outside a Big 5 sporting goods store in Yucaipa while changing his diaper. When she awoke, her son was gone.
Sheriff’s officials began investigating the disappearance, and deputies were unable to rule out foul play after Rebecca Haro was confronted with inconsistencies in her statements to investigators and declined to continue with the interview.
Authorities are continuing to investigate and have not released additional details about the arrests or the evidence that led to them. The couple is being charged under California penal code 187, which carries a minimum sentence of 25 years in prison if convicted.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
