Florida cop arrested for stealing dead man’s credit card info to pay for hotel, Wendy’s, eyelash extensions, and other items.
St. Cloud police officer Dianne Ferreira, 25, confessed to taking the information from a death investigation scene, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
Ferreira responded to a call at a home outside Orlando last month and took photos of the dead man’s credit cards and loaded the information onto a number of apps on her phone.
Several days later, the man’s widow reported that purchases were being made on her husband’s credit card, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
The sheriff’s office said the purchases started the day after the man’s death and included gas purchases, a mobile order for Wendy’s and a hotel room.
Another two purchases were attempted after the cards were canceled: another gas station charge and a bill for eyelash extensions.
“You got to be a pretty cold-hearted person to go to someone’s house where her husband or her loved one has just passed away and start taking snapshots of a credit card,” Sheriff Marcos Lopez said during a news conference on Wednesday, adding that Ferreira would be held accountable for her actions.
