Interstate 84 is closed in both directions through the west end of the Columbia Gorge after a crane truck crashed near the Bonneville Dam on Monday morning.
At about 7:45 a.m., transportation officials announced that I-84 was closed in both directions between Troutdale and Hood River.
Initial reports state a boom crane truck crashed and caught fire at milepost 40, near the Bonneville Dam exit. Crews are working to clean up debris from the collision and subsequent fire.
The driver didn’t report any injuries from the crash, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Oregon Department of Transportation said there’s a detour in place along Highway 26, and SR-14 rusn through the Washington side of the gorge.
