RawNews1st – Colleen Smith,58, left her Adelaide home on July 1, and her car wasn’t found until three days later.
She drove her 2006 Hyundai Getz across the border into Victoria.
Colleen was spotted stopped on the side of the Calder Freeway on July 2.
A day later, around 3.30pm, a farmer saw her travelling south on Jeruk River Road.
But that evening, her car was found abandoned in a ditch in the small town of Bunguluke – 545 kilometres from her home.
Setting off on a drive isn’t out of character for Colleen, but not contacting her family is.
In a town of just 600 people, no one has seen or heard from Colleen since her car was found.
That site is now a meeting place for Colleen’s distraught family.
They’ve been knocking on doors, speaking with farmers, and checking abandoned houses as well to see if there’s been any sign of her.
Family have been painstakingly meticulous in their search for Colleen, bagging up evidence they come across themselves, holding out hope she will be found alive.
They found her medication under a tree where her car was discovered.
Mary Headon is the last person to have spoken to Colleen.
She stopped on the Calder Freeway on July 2 to check if Colleen was okay.
Cincinnati police say 9 people were shot in a ‘mass shooting’ outside Mr. Pitiful’s bar
“When we got back there she was just laying in the car with her head back,” she said.
“She looked really, really tired or a little bit ill I thought, her eyes were very glassy.”
Colleen’s a type 2 diabetic who lives with asthma and a mental health condition, and takes daily medication.
Her handbags were left at the scene, while her mobile phone hasn’t been found.
The mystery deepens with a handwritten note in a journal she left behind
At the very end, at the back of the book, she’s written ‘help me please’
While it’s not known where Colleen was headed, her family believe she was driving to Swan Hill, but don’t know why.
A scrunched-up map of the area was found in her car.
