CNN viewership, similar to the rest of mainstream media, is collapsing.

Traditional media, both right and left, is dying.

Citizen journalists using Twitter 2.0 have the chance to fill this void.

BUT, with power comes responsibility, so everyone trying to be an “independent journalist”, don’t fall into the path that led to media’s demise:

1. If you are biased, make it clear to your viewers, don’t pretend to be objective
2. Verify, Verify, Verify. Don’t spread misinformation or disinformation, even if it means getting less clicks
3. Be prepared to face pressure from those with power to censor content
4. If you decide to take advertiser $$, choose those advertisers VERY carefully to avoid conflicts of interest

If you fail at the above 4 points, you’re no different to the media you’re trying to replace.
