Civil War Law could BAN Trump from Southern 2024 Ballots
The legislation aimed at blocking insurgents from running for election may stump Donald Trump’s 2024 candidacy – if the former president is found guilty of inciting the Jan 6 riots.
The 1868 law – written upon six Confederate states’ readmission to the Union – could potentially bar Trump from accessing votes in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North/South Carolina – or at least the 33% of electoral college votes needed to win the presidency.
However, some experts believe one clause suggests the ban can only be enacted by Congress, potentially allowing Republicans to oppose its enforcement.
