(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Narcotics Vice Suppression Unit (NVSU), along with the FPD’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), members of the FPD’s Community Empowerment Response Team (CERT), and members of the Hope Mills Police Department served three search warrants, two at residences along the 1000 block of Bowden Road and one residence along the 700 block of Tamarack Drive.
The investigation originated from a concerned citizen complaint of unlawful controlled substance distribution. The search warrant led to the seizure of the following items:
21 grams of Cocaine Base (Crack)
82 grams of marijuana
4 firearms
Assorted ammunition
$4,045 US Currency
Omar Vereen (Black male, 33 years old) of Fayetteville was arrested and charged with Felony Conspiracy and Manufacture Schedule II Controlled Substance.
Vereen is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond.
Michael Melvin (Black male, 33 years old) of Fayetteville was arrested and charged with Felony Conspiracy, Maintain a Dwelling for Sale of a Controlled Substance, Manufacture Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession with the Intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule II, Possession with the Intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule VI, and Manufacture Schedule VI Controlled Substance. Melvin is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond.
