Green Games: China threatens to torch climate commitments after US Olympic boycott
The US diplomatic boycott of Beijing’s 2022 Winter Olympics could harm cooperation on global issues, just a month after the two countries agreed to collaborate on climate change. (Newsweek)
The WH confirmed the US wouldn’t send representation to the games next year, citing alleged human rights abuses which triggered Beijing to lurch from indifference to anger.
China’s Foreign Ministry spox initially said, “no one would care” if the US didn’t take part. Less than 24 hours later the message is Washington could “pay a price.”
