China picks up void left by US – sells fighter jets to Pakistan
China has delivered the latest versions of its J-10 multirole fighter jet to Pakistan in a bid to boost the country’s air defense capabilities.
As Pakistan moves for closer cooperation with China, it is also in negotiations to buy the longer-ranged Chinese HQ-9 system analogous to the Russian S-300 long-range SAM.
For decades Pakistan has been receiving armaments from the US, but recent restrictions imposed by Washington has seen Islamabad’s reliance for US military equipment decline.
