A child died after a sledding accident led to a water response in Whitsett on Saturday morning after a winter storm hit North Carolina, according to the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office.
A news release said the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a water emergency just after 9:10 a.m. in the 900 block of Golf House Road, which is at Stoney Creek Golf Club.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found a child in the water and pulled the victim from the water. The child was taken to a local hospital where they later died.
“Preliminary information indicates that the tragic event occurred because of a sledding accident,” the sheriff’s office said in the release.
