Child suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound father arrested: Kentucky

On November 21, 2024 just before 9 a.m., police say a shooting happened at an apartment complex in the 5500 block of Overbrook Woods Place in Louisville, Kentucky. Upon arrival, officers found a child suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

She was transported to Norton Children’s Hospital by EMS, but later died from injuries.

The victim was identified as 3-year-old Aubree Goss.

The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) said the child’s father, 29-year-old E’Monta Goss, has been charged with second-degree manslaughter and possession of a handgun as a person with prior felony convictions out of Michigan.

Goss’ allegedly admitted to police that he “loaded and placed the handgun underneath a couch inside the apartment” where the child could access it.

He said he fell asleep and woke up to the sound of a gunshot and noticed the young girl had been shot.

Bond was set at $250,000 dollars for Goss.
