The victims were walking when they were approached by a group of armed men between 4-5 a.m. in the majority of the robberies.
The incidents occurred at the following times and places:
A 57-year-old man and a 51-year-old man were robbed in the 700 block of West Jackson Boulevard at 4 a.m. after two cars with four people approached them.
Two men exited one of the vehicles and demanded the victim’s belongings while brandishing a gun.
One of the thieves struck the 51-year-old man in the face. The criminals fled eastward.
A 69-year-old man was robbed by four men in a gray sedan in the 800 block of North Wolcott Avenue at 4:20 a.m.
Before fleeing southbound, the armed men pushed the victim to the ground and stole personal belongings.
Around 4:40 a.m., a 34-year-old man was inside his car in the 1500 block of North Talman Avenue when four men in a silver sedan, possibly a Hyundai Elantra, stole his money and personal belongings while brandishing firearms.
In the sedan, the victims fled northbound.
Around 4:50 a.m., a 45-year-old man was inside his car in the 1600 block of North Talman Avenue when four men in a silver sedan demanded the victim’s belongings at gunpoint.
The men fled in the sedan northbound.
Three men robbed a 22-year-old man in the 1600 block of North Leavitt Street around 5 a.m.
The men exited a gray sedan, pushed the victim to the ground, and stole his belongings. The men appeared to be unarmed.
They got back into the sedan and drove south. Nearby, the victim’s belongings were discovered.
None of the victims received medical attention for their injuries.
The police have not stated whether these robberies are linked.
There have been no arrests. Area Five detectives are looking into it.
