According to police, a dead Chicago police officer who was not on duty was discovered inside a house in the West Ridge neighborhood on Wednesday.
The 54-year-old man was discovered unconscious in a house in the 7400 block of North California Avenue at approximately 2:45 p.m. by officers conducting a well-being check, according to Chicago police.
According to police, he was declared dead at the scene.
The man has been identified as Selah Cenkersurjit by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. The officer’s death’s cause and mode of death are still unknown.
An investigation into a death was being done by police.
Nothing more was disclosed.
