CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police and the Virginia State University Police Department continue to investigate a shooting that occurred in the area of 218 Boisseau St. on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
At about 12:36 a.m. on Aug. 14, police responded to a report of a shooting that occurred in a large crowd of people. Once on scene, officers located four people, two adult males and two adult females, who were shot.
All four victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment; their injuries were not considered life threatening.
The investigation indicates none of the victims is currently enrolled at VSU for the fall 2024 semester.
Two suspects were taken into custody at the scene. Xavier J. Gordon, 21, of Chesterfield, was arrested and charged with brandishing a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
Clyde D. White Jr., 21, of Chesterfield, was arrested and charged with brandishing of a firearm.
Neither Gordon nor White is enrolled at VSU. It is not known whether Gordon or White are known to any of the shooting victims.
Police continue to investigate the events that led up to the shooting; at this point there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the VSU community.
Also, contrary to early online reports, no officers discharged their firearms during this incident.
