Philadelphia -Central York elementary school teacher has been arrested and charged after making threats to shoot school administrators, according to court documents.
Sinking Springs Elementary teacher Chad Gerrick reportedly had a conversation with administrators on the morning of October 8 about a plastic COVID-19 barrier he had installed in his classroom.
The plastic barrier had been removed by maintenance, which frustrated Gerrick.
According to an affidavit, while in the school cafeteria, Gerrick was overheard by a worker making threats like “If I get COVID, I will shoot all them [expletive],” and “I don’t care how sick I am, I will come into school and spread COVID to everyone that I can.”
He also talked about shooting people at the Central York Educational Service Center, according to court documents.
Gerrick was suspended by the acting superintendent for making these threats.
Police say that a search warrant of his car parked at Sinking Springs Elementary did not turn up any weapons, however, nine long guns and one pistol were removed from Gerrick’s home in West Manchester Township.
Gerrick was arraigned on Friday and released after posting $25,000 bail.
His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October 22.
