In an X post by the CDC, it stated the recalled cantaloupes were no longer available for sale and were past their “use-by dates.”
There were more than 400 people who became sickened in 44 states since the CDC’s first report of the outbreak in November.
A total of 158 sickened people were hospitalized and six people reportedly died.
The tainted fruit was also sold in Canada. In December, the Public Health Agency of Canada stated they had 164 cases.
“Malichita” and “Rudy” brand cantaloupes were identified as the tainted fruit.
The cantaloupes were sold at Kwik Trip, Kroger and Trader Joe’s between September and December of last year.
If you have stored cantaloupe products in your freezer, the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration warns to check if they were part of the recall.
They advised to throw away the cantaloupe products if they are not sure.
