The crash happened at the West Coast Air Show in Saldanha, a town about 70 miles north of Cape Town, on Saturday.

Black smoke rose into the air in a shocking plume.

Organisers of the West Coast Air Show said a fatal accident occurred involving the Impala Mark 1 aircraft.

It was piloted by highly respected South African test pilot James O’Connell.

According to Elowayne Gouws, the director of West Coast Medical Rescue, the pilot died on impact.

It burst into flames in front of more than 2,000 spectators, abruptly ending the event.

Tragic photos on social media show the jet just hours before it crashed.

The man who took the photo posted: ‘Heartbreaking afternoon.

‘I took these photos of this Impala aircraft just hours before it tragically crashed at the West Coast Air Show. 

‘My deepest condolences to the pilot’s family. May he rest in peace.’

A statement posted on social media by the organisers of the show read: ‘It is with profound sadness that the organisers of the West Coast Airshow confirm a fatal accident involving James O’Connell, a highly skilled and respected test pilot from South Africa.

‘Mr O’Connell was performing a routine display intended to demonstrate the capabilities of the Impala Mark 1 – a beloved warbird with deep historical significance for many South Africans.

FOX13 obtained shocking surveillance footage of a shootout in the middle of the day on the streets of Raleigh. A child, who appears to be no older than 10 years old, was caught in the middle of the violence.

The Memphis Police Department reported a group of five people, including the small child, tried to rob a man of his shoes, then tried to fight him when he refused to hand them over. The victim allegedly ran into a convenience store and hid behind the counter.

The disturbing scene played out last Friday on Yale Road between Raleigh and Bartlett. According to investigators, it started with an attempted robbery over a pair of shoes.

After the group of suspects stepped back out of the store, a surveillance camera captured a person rolling down the window of a nearby car and opening fire at the group.

The suspects were seen taking cover behind another car to get away from the bullets. Some members of the group then pulled guns of their own and returned fire, chasing the car into the street as it drove away.

The victim eventually left the store, but did not make it far. While he was walking up the street, the group of suspects allegedly pulled up next to him in a black car and accused him of “snitching” on them.

The victim was spotted on another camera running away, then jumping a fence into a yard where two small children were playing. “Let me in, let me in, let me in please!” the victim is heard begging the children as they run inside.

The violence, though, was not over yet.

According to Dallas Fire-Rescue, their department received a call about a fire at 3:43 p.m. at a recycling plant at 4141 Singleton Blvd.

Responding firefighters reported a heavy fire with a thick column of smoke. Crews used multiple hand lines and aerial ladders to spray water onto the blaze to get it under control, DFR said.

In an update from DFR around 6:45 p.m., the department told WFAA there were still several hot spots remaining, and an excavator was requested to dig through the debris and extinguish them fully.

WFAA had a crew at the scene, who reported seeing a transformer explode and multiple fire trucks responding to the fire.

The plume of smoke was so large, it could be seen from the Medical District.

Two workers have been rescued after getting stranded on scaffolding that was hanging off of a New York City’s high-rise building’s 78th floor.

The New York City Fire Department said in a press conference that they received a report of workers in need of help just before 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, in the Columbus Circle area.

When firefighters got to the scene, they found the scaffolding “wasn’t attached” and had been “swinging around and smacking into the building,” raining glass “all over the street,” FDNY Deputy Chief Michael Trahan said.

It was another day of work for two window washers in Midtown.  Until their scaffolding started twisting and turning out of control,78 floors above ground.  According to the FDNY, the workers wore harnesses but were not secured to the safety lines.

Brian Forman is the doorman of the building across from 25 Columbus Circle. Firefighters arrived at around 9:45 a.m. to rescue the window washers.

“The wind took the scaffolding and started spinning and started breaking the glass. And I first we thought it was ice falling from the building,” said Forman.

But it wasn’t ice. Chunks of broken glass were flying down 58 Street between Eight and Ninth Avenues as the platform kept on slamming back and forth into an apartment window.

“When the units pulled up, the scaffolding was smacking the building glass all over the streets. Pedestrians walking by,” said FDNY Deputy Chief Michael Traha.

Just a very dangerous scenario all around.

Firefighters were yelling at the workers to remain down as they kept on standing up on the scaffolding while it continued to swing In every direction of the wind.

“We’re operating essentially on the edge of a 78-story building, so it was very difficult to us, but I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, that they weren’t tied off,”  said FDNY Lieutenant Chief Nick Schneider.

Fortunately, The two workers made it out safe and sound and were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The Department of Buildings came to inspect the building following this incident.

Evacuations in the Carolina Forest area expanded quickly early Sunday morning as a wildfire grew to 1,200 acres.

Fire resources from the Pee Dee are assisting with the Carolina Forest wildfire. Howe Springs Fire Rescue said Florence County has four engines, three tankers, three brush trucks and 28 personnel working the fire.

Around 6 a.m., Horry County officials said evacuations were underway at the intersections of Spring Lake Drive including Pennyroyal Court, Alyssum Court and Bluebonnet Court as well as Harvest Drive from Moonbeam Court to Tidelands Court in the Spring Lake community.

Around 4:45 a.m., Horry County officials announced that public safety personnel were evacuating Covington Drive from Summerhill Drive to the community center in the Covington Lakes neighborhood, with nearby structures threatened.

Evacuees are told to go to the Carolina Forest Recreation Center. Others are asked to avoid the area and leave roadways open for first responders.

Footage released Friday by the San Diego Police Department shows a 16-year-old boy running from a shooting at Santa Fe Depot just before he was fatally shot by a responding officer last month.

The incident occurred on Jan. 28 just after 8:50 p.m. at the MTS station in downtown San Diego.

A video released by the department contains footage from a security camera that shows the moments prior to the police shooting.

In the silent security footage, the 16-year-old boy, whose name has not been released, can be seen walking with another person down a corridor from Kettner Boulevard toward the train platform.

The other person crosses the tracks onto the opposite side of the platform leaving the 16-year-old with two other people who had already been standing on the platform.

The teen walks toward the two other people and appears to speak with them before one of the two subjects produces a gun and fires at the teen, who immediately runs away back down a corridor toward Kettner Boulevard.

The shooting suspect and the other person run in the opposite direction.

The video then shows body camera footage from Officer Daniel Gold, who had been in the area responding to an unrelated assault call at nearby American Plaza Station.

The body camera footage, which is partly without audio, shows Gold exit his police unit in front of Santa Fe Depot on Kettner Boulevard and walk slowly toward West Broadway, pulling out his phone to make a call.

Gold then suddenly turns around, apparently reacting to the gunshots on the train platform, and jogs toward the corridor leading to the platform.

The teen then enters Gold’s field of view, sprinting out of the corridor toward the roadway.

“Whoa,” Gold says, firing his gun at the teen almost immediately.

According to a timestamp on the body-worn camera footage, approximately one second passes between when the teen first appears from out of the corridor and Gold fires his weapon.

It’s been more than 120 years, conspiracists believe, since the existence of the Black Knight was first recorded.

Those who subscribe to the theory invoke an extraterrestrial spacecraft in near-polar orbit of Earth, although they draw upon pieces of evidence so disparate that it’s not entirely clear why people link them.

What it all amounts to is a strange brew that has spurred some folks to shout about cover-ups by NASA and other government entities. It’s a legend that refuses to go away.

With that, the conspiracy surrounding the so-called “Black Knight” satellite appeared to be alive and well.

A lot of the earliest discoveries that have been linked to the Black Knight satellite theory relate to radio signals. But a series of images from 1998 really threw the celestial cat among the pigeons. They were taken during STS-88, the first space shuttle mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

There, for all to see, were images released by NASA that showed a black object hovering above our planet in low Earth orbit.

And it wasn’t long after the images were thrust in front of a hopeful public before people were performing some conspiratorial sums and sharing them with the wider world.

By way of explanation, STS-88 astronaut Jerry Ross pointed out that the ISS was in the midst of being constructed when the images were taken. The U.S. team, he said, was on its way to attach the American module to the one created by the Russians and, as part of that work, they had taken four trunnion pin thermal covers with them.

The task was to wrap these around four bare trunnion pins, these being rods that attached the module to the space shuttle Endeavour while it was being transported. This would act to prevent heat loss from the exposed metal.

“Jerry, one of the thermal covers got away from you,” STS-88 commander Robert Cabana (who now serves as associate administrator of NASA) told Ross during the spacewalk, and it soon became apparent that the cover was lost for good.

Subsequently captured on camera, this runaway black object was given the catalog number 025570 by NASA. A few days later, the item fell from orbit and burned up.

Much of this information has been placed on the record. Former NASA engineer James Oberg, who personally knows Ross and the person who took the photos, cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev, has demonstrated that these supposed images of the Black Knight actually depict a very mundane object.
