Patrick Beverley has reportedly been banned from any future guest appearances on ESPN shows following his behavior towards an ESPN producer in last night’s press conference.

Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports has reported that Beverley is banned from making guest appearances on ESPN studio shows, including Get Up and First Take, after he had appeared on programming during the NBA Playoffs last year.

Shams Charania of The Athletic posted on X that the league is investigating the media incident that took place after the game.

Beverley, who since apologized to Adams over the phone along with the Bucks organization, is also reportedly under investigation by the NBA surrounding an incident where he threw a basketball in the direction of Pacers fans twice in the fourth quarter of the game while on the bench.

A former high school coach and Major League Baseball outfielder was sentenced to nine years in prison for child sexual abuse charges on Friday.

Dustan Mohr, 47, was originally charged with child solicitation, child seduction, sexual misconduct with a minor and dissemination of matter harmful to minors in August 2023.

In March 2024, he pleaded guilty to child solicitation, child seduction and sexual misconduct with a minor in exchange for the dissemination charge being dropped.

Allen Superior Court Judge Fran Gull sentenced him to five years on each count with two years suspended, meaning his executed sentence is nine years. The charges carry a potential sentence of up to 18 years.

Mohr’s 14-year-old victim gave police evidence of sexually explicit text messages and photos she received from Mohr, according to a probable cause affidavit written by Allen County Sheriff’s Office Detective Nicholas Keefer.

She also told police Mohr inappropriately touched her.

He was an outfielder for the Minnesota Twins from 2001 until 2003.

He then played for the San Francisco Giants in 2004, Colorado Rockies in 2005, Boston Red Sox in 2006 and Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 2007.

He served as Northrop High School’s assistant baseball coach until about 2021.

Injuries are beginning to pile up for the Milwaukee Bucks, presenting them with a new hurdle as they try to rally from a 2-1 deficit in their first-round series against the Indiana Pacers.

Milwaukee has already been playing without two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, sidelined with a calf strain. Khris Middleton was listed as questionable entering Friday’s Game 3 before scoring 42 points in 41 minutes.

And near the end of the fourth quarter, Damian Lillard aggravated an Achilles injury that he said hindered him during overtime.

“We are just taking a lot of hits right now as far as injury-wise,” Bucks coach Doc Rivers said after his team’s 121-118 loss in overtime.

Lillard finished with 28 points on 6-of-20 shooting in 45 minutes, but he did not take a shot and went scoreless in overtime.

He told Rivers he wanted to stay on the floor to serve as a decoy for Middleton, who hit tying 3-pointers with 2 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and again with 8 seconds left in overtime.

“I just wanted to be on the floor in case opportunity came up or however I could help,” said Lillard, who revealed that one of his Achilles had been sore following the Bucks’ regular-season finale in Orlando.

“We’re gonna get back and just have to get ahead of it because that’s not something that you want to play with. It’s one of those spots on your body where you literally can’t, you can’t do nothing about it.

If you can’t move you can’t move.

We have a couple of days to start and try to get ahead of it. Get it feeling better and get ready for Sunday.”

Game 4 is Sunday night in Indianapolis.

Atlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Strider has a damaged ulnar collateral ligament — the Tommy John surgery ligament — and will undergo further evaluation, the team announced Saturday. Strider reported that his elbow was bothering him during Friday night’s 10-inning win over the Arizona Diamondbacks (ATL 6, ARI 5), according to MLB.com’s Mark Bowman.

“It wasn’t good,” manager Brian Snitker said about Strider’s MRI (via The Athletic).

Strider had Tommy John surgery in February 2019, during his sophomore season at Clemson. The severity of the tear will determine whether Strider needs a second Tommy John surgery, the less invasive internal brace procedure, or can rehab the injury.

The 25-year-old Strider had an uncharacteristic outing Friday. For starters, his fastball showed diminished velocity. He averaged 95.9 mph, more than a half tick lower than his first start (96.7) and well beneath his 97.2 mph average from 2023.

Strider also had reduced effectiveness: he surrendered five runs on seven hits and three walks over the course of four innings pitched.

“I thought it was just one of those nights,” Braves manager Brian Snitker told reporters after the team’s home opener on Friday. “Then [Strider] came in and was complaining about his elbow … He was uncomfortable with how it was feeling.”

Strider, now in his third full big-league season, has established himself as one of the league’s top starting pitchers. He entered Friday with a career 3.37 ERA (128 ERA+) and a 4.63 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He finished fourth in National League Cy Young Award voting last season after compiling a 115 ERA+ and a 13.5 strikeouts per nine rate over 186⅔ frames.

Even if he avoids surgery, UCL damage means Strider is likely to miss an extended period of time. The Braves have several options for filling his rotation spot. Those include young right-hander AJ Smith-Shawver and 2023 All-Star Bryce Elder along with various pitchers who have made MLB starts in the past, including Dylan Dodd, Allan Winans, and Huascar Ynoa.

The Braves trailed for most of Friday night. They forced extra innings by scoring three combined runs in the bottom of the eighth and ninth innings. Atlanta then secured its fourth victory of the year in the 10th inning, when a Travis d’Arnaud single brought in the winning run.

LSU women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey is threatening to sue The Washington Post if it publishes a “false story” about her. 

During her opening statement in a press conference appearance ahead of the Tigers’ second round matchup against Middle Tennessee, Mulkey addressed media rumors that the outlet was contacting former “disgruntled” players in an attempt to put out a “hit piece.” 

“I wouldn’t normally discuss media rumors about me, but I felt the need to publicly address what exactly this reporter for The Washington Post has been doing the past several years and the lengths he has gone to try and put a hit piece together,” Mulkey said Saturday.

The former NFL defensive lineman was arrested in the early hours of Saturday for allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Ann Arbor Police arrested Scruggs at around 3 a.m., and head coach Sherrone Moore announced Scruggs’ suspension later in the afternoon.

“He made no excuses and has taken accountability for his actions,” Moore said of Scruggs’ “unfortunate mistake.”

Scruggs joined a staff that has had a lot of turnover. Moore replaced Jim Harbaugh after nine seasons, the final one ending with a long-coveted national championship.

Scruggs coached Wisconsin’s defensive line last season. He was a New York Jets assistant defensive line coach in 2022 following two seasons as an assistant with the Cincinnati Bearcats.

He was a defensive lineman at Louisville from 2008 to 2011, playing for the program for three years while Moore was starting his coaching career as a graduate assistant.

Aiyuk’s asking price might start at $25 MM per year, given Calvin Ridley just got $23 MM per season and Deebo Samuel, who Aiyuk is better than is making $24 MM in average annual value.

Will the 49ers be willing to pay Aiyuk that rate?

Not every player is the same: contracts, age, ability, etc., all factor into the decisions a team makes. That brings us to Brandon Aiyuk.

For my money, Aiyuk is among the seven best receivers in the NFL, and his production can’t be quantified by looking at stats.

Wide receiver is a premium position. Aiyuk turns 26 this week, and I’m not sure we’ve seen his best football yet.

That’s worth an extension. Aiyuk is still under contract for another year, but he probably feels like he’s worth more than his current price tag of around $14 million in 2024—and how could you blame him after last season?

Dallas Police are now investigating claims of alleged sexual assault involving Cowboys QB Dak Prescott that happened in a parking lot of a strip club in 2017.

Dallas police are investigating claims of an alleged sexual assault involving Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and a woman from 2017.

“Dallas Police Department received a report of a sexual assault the complainant said occurred on February 2, 2017, in the 8500 block of Stemmons Freeway,” a Dallas police spokesperson said Wednesday night. “This is an ongoing investigation.”

The incident occurred in the parking lot of Dallas strip club XTC Cabaret. Dallas police received the report Tuesday.

Prosper police are also investigating claims that Prescott says he is being extorted, an official confirmed Wednesday to The Dallas Morning News.

Prescott filed a lawsuit Monday in Collin County accusing a Fort Worth woman of making a false sexual assault allegation in an attempt to extort $100 million from him.

Prescott, who denied the allegations, lives in Prosper.

An attorney representing Prescott met with Prosper police last week and “explained to PPD officials that his client was possibly a victim of theft by coercion,” a town of Prosper spokesperson told The News.

The department declined to release any additional details, citing the “matter being in the preliminary stages and considered and active investigation.”

Former UFC star Mark Coleman is “battling for his life” after saving his parents from a house fire in Ohio on Tuesday, his daughter said on Instagram.

Morgan Coleman wrote that her father went back and forth into the house and was able to carry both of his parents from the fire and save their lives, before attempting to rescue a dog, Hammer, from the blaze.

CNN has reached out to the Toledo Police, Fire Department and Coleman’s manager for comment for more details about the house fire and the former UFC fighter’s condition.

Morgan said that the former MMA star was airlifted to a hospital where he is “currently battling for his life after this heroic act.” She also said that Hammer passed away despite Coleman’s best efforts.

“Our father has always been our hero and means the world to us. He is and always will be a fighter,” Coleman’s daughter wrote. “The strongest [and] bravest man I know. Please continue to pray for him and our family during this extremely difficult time.”

Coleman’s other daughter, Kenzie, said on her Instagram stories that Hammer saved the 59-year-old’s life with his barking to wake him up.

MMA writer Jonathan Snowden – who said he was close to producing a book with Coleman – posted a picture on X, formerly known as Twitter, of Coleman attached to a ventilator in a hospital.

“If anyone can beat back death itself, it’s Mark,” Snowden wrote.

Coleman’s longtime friend and fellow former UFC fighter Wes Sims said on Facebook that Coleman is “currently intubated & sedated” in a hospital in Toledo, Ohio.

“I swear to GOD-he’s one of the toughest individual ever created, been thru so much a Movie at this point could not give his life work Justice!” Sims said.

Coleman’s mother, Connie, posted on Facebook, saying “Thank God we are alive” and requesting “prayers for Mark.”

Coleman is seen as one of the most influential fighters in UFC history, becoming the first ever UFC heavyweight champion.

He retired with a 16-10 record and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2008.

The Cincinnati Bengals are trading running back Joe Mixon to the Houston Texans, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday, per sources.

The news is a surprising plot twist in Mixon’s exit out of Cincinnati. The Bengals were expected to release the veteran RB, but the club will instead receive compensation after finding a suitor. 

Mixon, 27, is coming off his fourth 1,000-plus rushing yard season in 2023.

The 27-year-old would’ve been a year younger and would’ve entered a free-agent market much less saturated with proven running backs. Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs, Saquon Barkley, Austin Ekeler, Tony Pollard and D’Andre Swift headlined the 2024 class, and by the time of his reported release from the Bengals, most of the big dominoes had already fallen.

The conditions weren’t exactly favorable for Mixon, as he sought not only a healthy payday but also a situation in which he’d get to showcase his skills optimally.

The Texans should, however, be a comfortable landing spot for the 2021 Pro Bowler.

Quarterback C.J. Stroud far exceeded expectations as a rookie, and that had an accompanying effect for wide receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell. Mixon will slot nicely into the passing game.
