Carlos Dominguez, 21, pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder Friday in a Woodland courtroom.
The counts also have enhancements for premeditated murder, multiple murders and for using a deadly weapon. He was represented by a public defender.
Dominguez was detained Wednesday at Pine Lane and Colby Drive near Sycamore Park, the site of the second stabbing that killed 20-year-old Karim Abou Najm, a UC Davis student, on April 29.
LiveCopter 3 was flying around Davis when it spotted Davis police officers speaking with a man for several minutes before putting him in the back of their patrol car.
That man, who Davis police Chief Darren Pytel later identified as Dominguez, had curly hair and was clad in dark clothing, including the black Adidas pants that matched the suspect’s description in the third stabbing. Dominguez made little body movement while officers spoke with him and police said his demeanor was reserved.
