Virginia – A Federal fugitive from Virginia was arrested after reportedly shooting at police in Southern Kentucky.
On Monday, the US Marshals Service tried to arrest Byron Howard, 71, in the Keavy area of Laurel County.
Officials said Howard led police on a chase. The chase ended when Howard left the road and hit a tree on Moberly Bend Road.
Officials added Howard shot two times at police before surrendering peacefully.
Howard was taken to Baptist Health in Corbin for cardiac issues.
He was charged with three counts of attempted murder of a police officer, wanton endangerment and gun possession by a convicted felon.
Howard will be taken to the Laurel County Detention Center after his release from the hospital.
No officers were injured during the incident.
