The University of Minnesota issued an alert for residents to evacuate after a supposed gas leak and fire in the area.
The Minneapolis Fire Department is responding to a fire and explosion on the University of Minnesota campus near University Avenue and Seventeenth Avenue southeast.
All addresses on University between Fifteenth and Nineteenth Avenue are being evacuated.
Those displaced by the explosion and evacuation can report to Northrop Auditorium for shelter, the university said in a follow-up alert.
No injuries have been reported at this time.
