WINT – Police in one Eastern Carolina city have charged a mother with killing her 6-week-old son.
Briasia Somerville was arrested today for first degree murder and felony child abuse for the death of the infant.
The victim has been identified as Zamari Parker.
The 21-year-old is also charged with felony child abuse for injuries to her five-year-old child.
Washington police say they were notified on September 2nd of a suspicious death. The infant died at ECU Health Medical Center, police say, with an autopsy reporting his injuries were consistent with abuse.
