Police arrested a man with knives and several other weapons including a machete after they confronted him behind a ticket counter at Cleveland Hopkins Airport Monday.
Police got a call for a man with a machete at the ticket counter near the front entrance around 420 a.m.
Police said officers immediately responded and found the man with weapons on the ground behind the Spirit Airlines ticket counter.
As officers attempted to talk with the male, he became belligerent and defiant, according to Police.
A witness told 19 News the man was screaming “I am peaceful, I am peaceful, I want to go to Jerusalem.”
Officers tased the man after he made threatening gestures towards them with a knife, but the taser was ineffective.
AThe man jumped over the ticket counter and jumped over a stairwell in an attempt to escape.
Officers were able to arrest him, and he was transported to a hospital for crisis intervention. No injuries were reported from this incident.
