Mann’s remains were located in the 2900 block of Santa Monica Boulevard — in a courtyard area near an abandoned building — on April 25, Santa Monica Police said in a statement on Monday. The spot is less than a mile away from where Mann was dropped off by an Uber on Nov. 30, 2021.
The rideshare driver left him outside a 7-Eleven in Studio City.
Shortly after, he texted 911 after leaving the convenience store, according to CBS Los Angeles. During an episode of Dateline in 2022, Officer Jill Calhoun confirmed the LAPD received Beau’s message, adding that “several attempts were made to contact [him] via that correspondence.”
Friends and family became concerned when they couldn’t get in touch with Mann, and they reported him missing a few days later on Dec. 4, 2021.
The Los Angeles County Coroner established the body belonged to Mann on May 6. He was identified by his dental records, but no cause of death was provided.
Mann was the CEO of Sober Grid, a digital health company founded in 2015 to provide mental health addiction care in the United States and abroad. Some of its services include peer recovery counseling and social networking.
