Bo Pete Jeffrey is accused of murdering his ex-wife on her 48th birthday: Nov. 5, 2018. She was reported missing by family on Nov. 27. Sheriff’s deputies found her decomposing body on Dec. 3.
The body had been stuffed into garbage bags and discovered underneath a bed in the Jeffreys’ camper, which was parked at the Holiday Trav-L-Park RV Resort, 4001 W. State Road 40, Ocala. Next to her was a pair of bloody boxing gloves, detectives said.
Authorities said the Jeffreys lived together, even though they were divorced.
Defense lawyer Jason Wise, who represented Bo Pete Jeffrey, said after the verdict that he was “disappointed” with the outcome. Wise said his client “has many issues on appeal and looks forward to it.”
Circuit Judge Steven Rogers sentenced Jeffrey, 57, immediately after the jury returned its verdict. Jeffrey has been in the Marion County Jail for 954 days awaiting trial.
The jurors got the case at 10:21 a.m. At 11:14 a.m., they had a question. They wanted to read the transcripts. The judge consulted with the lawyers and a decision was made that the jury could not get the transcripts because they were not in evidence.
The jury went back to its deliberations. At 3:04 p.m., it signaled that it had reached a verdict.
At 3:13 p.m., the foreman handed the bailiff a note. The clerk read the verdict aloud. The jury was polled, and all 12 jurors said Bo Pete Jeffrey was guilty of first-degree murder.
