Blaze tears through North Carolina plant storing hundreds of tons of explosives
Firefighters warned Tuesday that a Winston-Salem facility could explode at any moment due to large quantities of ammonium nitrate stored on site.
Residents within a one-mile radius of the plant were told to immediately evacuate.
Firefighters have got the blaze mainly under control, with some tankers holding back to hose down embers keeping temperatures down.
