Australia & Netherlands hit Russia with MH17 Compensation Claim
Legal proceedings have been launched against Russia for the downing of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 over Ukraine in 2014 by Australia and the Netherlands – despite Moscow repeatedly denying its involvement in the incident that claimed over 300 lives.
Both countries have pleaded with the International Civil Aviation Authority to force Moscow into compensation payments, with a murder trial involving three Russians underway in the Netherlands.
Dutch Minister of Infrastructure Mark Harbers insisted his country wants Russia’s apparent guilt to be “internationally recognized”, while Australian FM Marise Payne claimed Moscow’s refusal to take responsibility was “unacceptable”.
