Ashley Kallenbarger, 30, who is homeless, went to an address in the 2200 block of North 19th Street in Lafayette on Saturday night, interrupting a bonfire there. She said she was there looking for her children, according to police reports.
Officers noted that Ashley Marie Kallenbarger behaved oddly Saturday night after police arrested her for suspicion of attempted kidnapping.
The residents there told Kallenbarger her children did not live there, and Kallenbarger left.
Around 10:40 p.m. Saturday, Kallenbarger returned and tried to grab a 3-year-old boy, according to police.
Prosecutors charged Kallenbarger on Monday with resisting law enforcement and attempted kidnapping.
She remained incarcerated Monday afternoon in lieu of bond, according to online jail records.
