It appears a woman who’s charged with being high on meth when she ran over her 11 year old son, then left the scene with her 2 year old in the car, will now be prosecuted.
Ashely Blizzard is accused of running over her son on February 28th of 2020, dragging him 40 feet, then leaving the scene.
She was charged in Rogers County with seven crimes, including DUI-drugs, child abuse and child neglect.
A recorded jail phone call shows Blizzard called her son from booking and told him she did not run over him and told him she would be going to prison forever and while he’s crying, she’s begging him and the boy’s father to bail her out the next day.
In May, Rogers County prosecutors determined the victim was Native American, so they referred the case to the U.S. Attorney’s office. They say the tribal courts could not pick up this case because the suspect is not a tribal member.
The DA’s office says the U.S. Attorney’s office said in May, they would not be prosecuting the case.
We contacted the U.S. Attorney’s office today and they say they initially believed Blizzard was a tribal member and so had referred it to tribal court, but, learned this afternoon, that’s not the case, so now, they say they can pick up the case and prosecute Blizzard.Blizzard remains in jail.
