Illinois – Arnoldo Jimenez, wanted for allegedly murdering his new bride less than 24 hours after marrying her, has been named to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.
A reward of up to $100,000 is being offered for information leading to Jimenez’s capture.
His wife, Estrella Carrera, 26, was found dead in the bathtub of her Burbank, Illinois, home, still in the dress she wore to her wedding reception.
Jimenez and Carrera married in a city hall ceremony on Friday, May 11, 2012, and then attended a celebration with family and friends.
“We believe she was stabbed in the vehicle and then dragged back into the apartment and left bleeding in the bathtub,” said Special Agent Steve Barnard, who is working the case out of the FBI’s Chicago Field Office.
Carrera’s family became alarmed when she did not arrive to pick up her children—a 2-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter—as planned.
The family asked law enforcement to perform a wellness check on Sunday, May 13, 2012, during which Carrera’s body was discovered.
Jimenez is now 37 years old. He is reported to be 6 feet tall, between 200 and 225 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
He may have fled to Durango, Mexico, specifically in the area of Santiago Papasquiaro. Jimenez may also frequent Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
