BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Armed citizen shoots two robbery suspects at Church’s Chicken in Port
Arthur, one suspect dies
Port Arthur Police say two suspects with handguns were robbing the Church’s Chicken in the 1800 block of Jefferson Drive at about 8:45 p.m.
Friday when an armed citizen intervened and several shots were fired. Both suspects were struck and fled the scene.
Police say one died at a hospital. The other was located at Normandy Apartments and was being treated in the ER. Detectives interviewed and released the citizen who stayed on scene at Church’s. The case remains under investigation.
Police Chief Tim Duriso tells KFDM/Fox4 one of the suspects may be from Louisiana.
Police are investigating a robbery Thursday at a Jack in the Box.
The chief says it’s not known at this point if there’s any connection to the two suspects in the Church’s aggravated robbery.
