Police in Little Rock, Arkansas, are searching for a suspected serial killer who has been tied to at least four seemingly random knife attacks, three of which resulted in the victims’ deaths.
The unnamed suspect is being sought in connection with violent incidents that took place between August 2020 and April 2021 in Little Rock’s Midtown area.
The most recent attack resulting in a fatality took place just two-and-a-half weeks ago.
The agency on Thursday released surveillance video showing the unidentified suspect pacing back and forth on a sidewalk at night.
According to the Little Rock police, the first attack in the series took place in the early morning hours of August 24, 2020, when 64-year-old Larry McChristian was found stabbed to death in the 220 block of South Gaines Street, reported ArkansasOnline.com.
On September 23, police responded to an address in the 4200 block of West 12th Street and found 62-year-old Jeff Welch suffering from fatal knife wounds to his neck.
After a nearly seven-month hiatus, the alleged serial killer resumed hunting for victims, this time attacking 43-year-old Debra Walker at 19th and Marshall streets on the morning of April 11.
The woman was stabbed more than 15 times but survived and was able to give evidence to the police.
Less than 24 hours later, the killer struck again, fatally stabbing Marlon Franklin, 40, in the 2700 block of Wright Avenue.
Little Rock Police Chief Keith Humphrey said in a videotaped statement that all four victims were randomly attacked in the early morning hours.
According to the police, the suspect, seen in surveillance video dressed in a dark hooded sweatshirt and pants, is believed to be a black male standing at over 6 feet in height. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
A $20,000 reward is being offered in exchange for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Tipsters are being asked to call 501-371-4636.
Chief Humphrey said his agency has stepped up patrols in the Midtown area, and the FBI is assisting with the hunt for the killer.
‘Let me be clear,’ Humphrey said, ‘we will do everything possible to arrest this suspect and protect our city.’
