RawNews1st – 25-year-old Anthony Ford is charged with second-degree murder, child abuse resulting in death, child abuse resulting in serious physical injury and first-degree assault.
Anthony Ford, 25, is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree child abuse resulting in the death of a child younger than 13, first-degree child abuse resulting in severe physical injury, and first-degree assault in connection to an incident on Oct. 7, 2018.
During a bail hearing on Friday, Judge Jackson listened as the prosecutor informed the court of the facts of the case, requesting the defendant be held without bail because of the risk to public safety. Ford’s defense attorney, Tony Garcia, argued that the defendant is the one who called 911 when he realized his daughter was unresponsive.
The defense attorney also said there is no evidence that his client is the one who abused his daughter because there are no witnesses.
After listening to both counsels, Judge Jackson deemed the defendant as a risk to public safety and denied bail.
According to KCBY, on Oct. 4, 2018, officers responded to an area hospital around 3 p.m. for reports of an five-month-old girl, Brailynn Ford, who showed signs of trauma to her body.
The victim’s body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s office, where the cause of death was ruled a homicide.
Ford’s next hearing is scheduled for Aug. 15.
