SAN JOSE — Police have arrested a person accused of robbing a teen boy and forcing him into a sex act at knifepoint during a chance encounter last week, authorities said.
Friday, the San Jose Police Department announced the Aug. 23 arrest of 36-year-old Angel Vasquez, who has since been charged with crimes encompassing sexual assault of a minor, robbery and kidnapping.
A police report accompanying the criminal complaint states that the reported attack occurred the evening of Aug. 18, and that the following morning the boy and his family reported that he had been attacked by a person he had never met before.
According to the police report, the victim said Vasquez approached him, brandished what appeared to be a kitchen knife, and said, “Don’t scream and come with me.”
The approximate location of the attack was the area of Almaden Avenue between West Virginia Street and Willow Street, police said. Vasquez is accused of forcing the boy to the rear of an area home, robbing him, and engaging in sex acts.
Vasquez was detained a few days later based on a resemblance to the victim’s description, and was later chosen by the victim out of a photo lineup police said. The victim described his attacker as a man, but according the police report, Vasquez told investigators that she identified as female, and denied meeting the boy.
Vasquez is being held without bail in the Elmwood men’s jail in Milpitas, according to jail records.
