New York – An off-duty Border Patrol agent was shot in the face in New York City’s Fort Washington Park late Saturday night.

The agent was reportedly targeted in a robbery attempt and was injured by gunfire. He was able to fire back, striking one of his attackers.

Both suspects fled the scene. The agent was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive.

“It’s just terrible to know someone’s out to kill… I’m just on my bike trying to get home from work. It’s a scary situation,” area resident Jack Clark told Eyewitness News.

Responding to a 911 call just before midnight, investigators found a 42-year-old man had been shot multiple times in his face and arm near the Little Red Lighthouse in Fort Washington Park, below the George Washington Bridge.
