On Monday night, an elderly man was shot and killed inside his Fox Lake home.
Around 9:35 p.m., police responded to a report of shots fired at a residence in the 0-100 block of Mineola Road.
When officers arrived, they discovered a 77-year-old man, later identified as Roy Hoffman, who had been shot to death inside his home.
According to police, the 911 caller told dispatchers that a man and woman entered a minivan and fled after hearing shots fired.
The woman, later identified as Kathryn Deason, 31, was invited to Hoffman’s home “to have a romantic relationship in exchange for money,” according to police.
While she was there, the man, later identified as Azmi Ibrahim, 37, allegedly entered the house and shot the 77-year-old before fleeing.
A short time later, officers from Round Lake noticed the minivan, and they were familiar with Ibrahim. A perimeter was established around his home in the 300 block of Lunar Drive.
He turned himself in to police and is now being held. Ibrahim was charged with murder in the first degree and obstructing justice. Deason was charged with obstructing the administration of justice.
The shooting, according to police, was premeditated. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Lake County Major Crime Task Force or the Fox Lake Police Department.
Authorities have stated that additional charges are possible.
