On New Year’s Eve, an East Chicago man was arrested for allegedly shooting his companion’s ex.
Alantae Antwan Thornton, 30, of East Chicago, was with a woman on New Year’s Eve when they saw a man she’d had a “prior relationship with” at a gas station in Munster, according to Indiana State Police.
According to police, Thornton followed that man onto I-80/94 and eventually opened fire on him. After being hit in the torso, the victim drove himself to Munster Community Hospital.
According to Indiana State Police, the victim recognized the woman and Thornton.
Thornton was apprehended by Indiana State Troopers at the Lake County Courthouse on Friday.
He faces two counts of attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon, and criminal recklessness.
