Atlanta police said they’re investigating an armed person inside and urged people to stay away from the area.
Anyone within sight of the hotel is warned to stay away from windows and rooms facing the windows.
A shadowy figure has been seen throwing objects off a balcony and turning back toward the room before firing off shots, according to a video posted on X.
Cops said they spotted the shooter but no longer have him in their sights.
He threw a handgun off the balcony and is now barricaded inside the hotel, police confirmed to ABC affiliate WSB-TV.
Another harrowing streetside video taken by Fox affiliate WAGA showed SWAT team officers ducking for cover as gunshots rang out in the abandoned streets.
One person who was staying in the hotel shared a video from his balcony that showed the Atlanta skyline as the barrage of bullets rippled through the skies.
