According to an arrest warrant, on Mar. 10, Courtney Keaton allegedly struck a juvenile victim in the back of their head, causing large bruises at a home at the 2200 block of Creek Drive in Marietta.
The document states that Keaton most likely used her hand, and the injuries appear to have been caused by “more than appropriate discipline.”
The warrant also revealed that Keaton is a foster parent to seven children, and when officers spoke to other juveniles in the home, they appeared to be fearful and said Keaton was the only one who physically disciplined them.
It was also revealed that several of the fostered children have made allegations of abuse.
Keaton was booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, where she is being held without bond.
Authorities removed the children from the home and say they are in a safe environment. This investigation remains active.
In a statement, a Cobb County Schools district spokesperson said,
“We recently became aware of the arrest and charges involving one of our staff members. The allegations are not connected to any school, activity, program, or student. In accordance with district policy and applicable laws, and while the investigation is ongoing, this employee will not be present on any Cobb County school campus.”
