A teacher at Starr Elementary School pleaded guilty to stalking an 11-year-old student, police say
According to reports, a South Carolina teacher admitted to stalking an 11-year-old student. Dylan Robert Dukes, 27, pleaded guilty to first-degree harassment and received three years in jail plus five years of probation. Investigators say he sent the girl over 60 love letters and gave her gifts and unwanted hugs that made her uncomfortable.
Authorities stated before summer break, the Starr Elementary School teacher gave the child a personalized box with a letter for each day of the week for the summer.
Duke also recently joined the child’s church after realizing she would no longer be a student at the school.
The sheriff’s office said when detectives went to the school to survey Dukes’ classroom, they found many pictures of the child in his desk. They mentioned that these pictures were not sexual in any nature.
Duke also must attend mental health counseling, surrender his teaching certificate and agree to a permanent restraining order prohibiting any contact with the victim, according to officials.
