A Sulphur man and his mother face trafficking charges after authorities say he held a missing girl at his house for sexual purposes.
The mother is accused of helping him hide the crime from police.
In June of 2023, detectives began an investigation after receiving reports in reference to possible carnal knowledge of a juvenile, according to Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kayla Vincent.
Their investigation led to the discovery that Joshua D. Dixon, II, 18, of Sulphur, was having a sexual relationship with a juvenile, who was under the age of 16. Dixon attempted to harbor the victim at his home and hide her from law enforcement, Vincent said.
Detectives also said Dixon gave the girl illegal narcotics when they were together.
Jennifer Dixon, 46, also of Sulphur, was found to be helping her son, Joshua, harbor the victim, who had been reported missing, for sexual reasons, deputies said. Jennifer also allegedly made efforts to hide her son’s sexual relationship with the victim from law enforcement.
Deputies said during their investigation, Joshua left the area with the victim. On March 7, they were located in Montana by the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, which is when Dixon was arrested.
That same day, Jennifer was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
Jennifer and Joshua both face charges of trafficking of children for sexual purposes and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles performing sexual acts.
Joshua is additionally charged with contributing to the delinquency of juveniles CDS law.
