A shooting at a football game in Mayfield, Kentucky this evening left players and coaches scrambling off the field.
WPSD-TV reports one person has been injured after shots were fired at the Mayfield Cardinals football field
“People seem to be pretty shaken up about this,” Charlton-Perrin said. “This was supposed to be just a fun night of football. It was the opening game of the season and it turned into this.”
Local radio station WYMC in Western Kentucky was providing a live broadcast when the shots rang out near the end of the game.
The shooting occurred during the annual Battle of the Birds game between the Mayfield Cardinals and the Graves County Eagles at Mayfield’s War Memorial Stadium. It was the opening game of the high school football season.
