A shelter-in-place order has been issued from Highway 146: Marathon Oil refinery in Texas
Residents of Texas City, Texas, told to shelter in place after massive fire erupts at Marathon Oil refinery.
The Texas City Office of Emergency Management (OEM) first posted about the fire at 12:25 p.m. The refinery is located on 5th Avenue South east of 25th Street South.
The Texas City Fire Department is at the scene and air monitoring is being conducted.
Marathon said in a statement that there have been no reports of injuries.
The city said on social media that officials are closely monitoring the situation. A shelter-in-place order has been issued from 29th Street to Bay Street.
Texas City OEM is asking residents to go inside, close all doors and windows, and to turn off air conditioning/heating.
